As one of the famous islands in Ha Long Bay, Fighting Cocks Islet (Hòn Gà Chọi hay Hòn Trống Mái) is located near Incense Burner (Hòn Lư Hương, Hòn Đỉnh Hương hay Đỉnh Lư Hương) in the southwest of the bay, about 5 km from Bai Chay tourist port. This is a cluster of two islands shaped like a pair of chickens, one male and one female, about 10 meters high, with legs tucked in a very precarious position. The logo of Ha Long Bay features Hon Ga Choi as a symbol, and Vietnam travel guidebooks generally use it as well.
In the middle of a vast sea, two chickens, one male and one female, appear proudly on the surface. At dawn, from afar, the bright light dyes the giant pair of chickens side by side on the vast waves. From the water surface, each chicken is more than ten meters high. The giant body stands on its drawn-up legs, precariously poised, as if just a few strong waves could cause the heavy rock to collapse at any moment. But no, millions of years have passed, and the two chickens are still standing there faithfully. Those disproportionate legs seem to amplify the attraction.
Nowadays, Fighting Cocks Islet is a stop on most bay tours. Tourists who want to see this unique island can choose Ha Long day tours with a 4–6 hour journey or book Ha Long Bay cruise tours with overnight stays on the bay.
Ha Long Bay is a mesmerizing masterpiece of nature, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a treasure trove of geological wonders and rich biodiversity.
Ba Trai Dao Islets is three small mountains, about 20m high, looking exactly like three peaches from afar. This place is associated with a legend about the romantic love between the beautiful, gentle youngest fairy and a poor fisherman.
Bo Hon Island is located right in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Province. This place not only contributes to the beauty of Ha Long but also holds many mysteries that need to be discovered and learned when visiting the bay.
In the 1900s, the French came to explore Ha Long and discovered this cave. Because they were so amazed by the majestic beauty inside the cave, the name ‘La Grotte des Surprises’—The Amazing Cave, or Surprise Cave—was born. This cave on Bo Hon Island was also selected by CNN Travel magazine as one of the 7 most beautiful caves in Vietnam.
Hang Luon Ha Long, or Hang Luon Bo Hon, or Hang Luon on Bo Hon Island in Ha Long Bay, on the land of Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam.
