Heritage Line’s Ylang is a cutting-edge ship sailing through the far-flung corners of the magnificent Lan Ha Bay. With her vivacious charm, she beckons guests to embark on a journey of all the senses. Ylang's interior sports a delicate floral leitmotif inspired by local poetry. Together with the collection of featured artwork, an ancient flair of Indochina emanates throughout the vessel.
Her accommodation is unrivaled in the region, with her top suites being the pinnacle of luxury. The ship houses lavish facilities, but what makes Ylang truly incomparable is her expansive wellness sanctuary of sensational spa facilities and her very bespoke itinerary to experience the remote Lan Ha Bay at ease with wellness-inspired activities.
Ylang inherited her good looks from her mother Ginger, the eldest and most graceful of the Halong Bay sisters. Ylang, as the firstborn of the third generation in this aristocratic family, built a strong attachment to her heritage of Vietnamese traditional design and Indochine legacy. Her love for flowers can be found everywhere on board with artefacts of floral motifs depicting the seasons. Her interior is decorated with paintings she inherited from her mother as well as gifted from her grandparents’ artist friends. Ylang spent a lot of her childhood playing in the loft at her maternal grandmother’s home, a treasure trove of ancient reminiscences that she used to style her new home to perfection. Despite her romantic nature and love for ancient poetry, Ylang has always maintained a grounded nature. Growing up, she enjoyed exploring the environment, forming friendships with fishermen in floating villages, and discovering the natural beauty of island jungles. Her guests on board will fully experience all of this.
My favourite childhood memories are of the river life alongside the Perfume River in the imperial city of Hue. These formative years nurtured a deep connection to my homeland’s history, culture, and heritage. I was resolute in my desire to share the unique cultural heritage of Southeast Asia with the rest of the world. It was this connection, and unquestionably my riverside upbringing, that compelled me to develop Heritage Line—a consummate collection of luxurious waterway-flying vessels.
Emulating the splendour of river journeys from a bygone era, I built Heritage Line’s Jayavarman, our first vessel, to sail on the mighty Mekong. Named after the great king of the Khmer Empire, Jayavarman’s style was defined by interweaving a love of art, cultural heritage, local life, and tradition with this sacred river. The fleet was born, and today we sail with a wonderful collection of the most impeccable ships.
As I believe that every river has a story to tell, we will continue to explore the tantalizing waterways of Southeast Asia while designing impeccable vessels to journey this exotic part of the world in style. I look forward to welcoming you aboard for a truly exceptional experience.
Mysterious waters and myriads of islets and limestone formations create the spectacular seascapes and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Halong, which means “descending dragon," refers to legendary creatures sent down from the heavens to guard against invaders approaching from the sea. To protect the Vietnamese, the dragons belched out clusters of jewels to create an impenetrable barrier, which has since turned into over 2,000 beautiful limestone islets today dotting the bay.
Dedicated to well-being and serenity, this exceptional, off-the-beaten-track three-day, two-night’ journey named “Senses of Lan Ha” offers deep insights into Lan Ha Bay’s natural beauty, all while providing an active and holistic wellness experience onboard.
Day 1: Marina, Cat Ba Island (Viet Hai), Mooring
Embark on a unique journey, meeting at Heritage Line’s lounge at Tuan Chau Marina. A short speedboat transfer takes you to your luxurious floating home, the starting point for exploring the wonders of Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island. Lunch is served in the almost 360-, light-flooded, elegant dining room as we sail deeper into the bay. Unwind on the terrace deck or private balcony, soaking in the surreal seascape.
Mooring close to Cat Ba Island, we step on land heading to Viet Hai Village, nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by jungle-cladded mountains. Cycling through this valley offers wonderful insights into the isolated lives of the local inhabitants. The community, surrounded by thick forests and mountains and only accessible by sea, is self-sufficient, cultivating vegetables and fruits and fishing on the bay.
Returning to the ship, we sail to our overnight anchorage spot in Lan Ha Bay. Participate in a Vietnamese tea tasting, pamper yourself with a spa treatment, or enjoy some time in the sauna located in the ship’s vast spa area. After dinner offers, you can opt for a guided “Singing Bowl Meditation” in the wellness studio or simply relax under the stars on the terrace deck or your private balcony to embrace the serenity of this surreal landscape.

A short scenic bus ride takes you through the lush park and the starting point for a leisurely hiking outing to get to know this designated biosphere reserve better. The park hosts about 1,500 plant species, 78 avian, 20 reptilian, and 32 mammalian species, including deer, macaques, and civets.
Returning to the ship for lunch and some enjoyable sailing time, reaching eventually a secluded spot for the afternoon activities. You can spend the afternoon relaxing or swimming at a natural beach, exploring the calm area with kayaks, or enjoying spa treatments, a steam bath, or a sauna back on board. Make the most of this unhurried afternoon, creating enduring memories in Lan Ha Bay.
As the sun sets, the ship sails to its overnight mooring spot. Savour a multi-course dinner and join again our guided “Singing Bowl Meditation” or retire to your suite to unwind on your private balcony.
